Since developing the world's first commercial CDMA cellular system, IS-95A, IS-95B, and 1X cellular systems, the Mobile Device & Access Network R&D Center has played a pivotal role in launching the world's first commercial 3G cellular systems CDMA2000 1xEV-DO (synchronized IMT-2000) and asynchronous WCDMA.
The Center is focusing on the development of terminals with built-in solutions such as multimedia, LBS, WiBro and PAN platforms, to take the lead in the convergent service industry. It is also making dedicated efforts to research and develop future-generation telecommunications technologies such as BcN, broadcasting service technologies, and ubiquitous sensor network application technology for providing intelligent and proactive services. The Center plans to enhance technical support for the company's global operations, and develop strategic wireless solutions and technologies for the global market. These include TD-SCDMA technology for the Chinese market and T-PAK and i-Optimizer solutions.
