The Service Platform & Core Network R&D Center was established to research, develop, and operate wired and wireless Internet services, as well as wireless network-based services such as Video Telephony and Ring-Back Tone. In addition, the Center continues to find and develop new growth drivers by creating new business models based on platform and core network technologies.
Currently, the Center is carrying out R&D activities on WAP & Web-based Platforms, Advanced New Services (Multimedia, Broadcasting, Video Telephony, Entertainment, LBS, Commerce, Messaging & N/W Based Service, and so on), Global Solution Packaging and many others, in order to ensure that the company's service products are successfully launched onto the market. These include NATE, JUNE, and 3G+ (HSDPA) services. SK Telecom has commercialized the NATE service platform and exported this wireless Internet solution to Israel, Taiwan, Vietnam, China, Thailand and the U.S. The Service Platform & Core Network R&D Center is behind this achievement, and will keep furnishing the company new opportunities to succeed in the global market.
The Service Platform & Core Network R&D Center has made a constant effort to plant the seeds of technological revolution and to find new technologies and business models from around the world. The Center established the "Open Idea Net" to enhance relationships with business partners and to find creative and innovative ideas. This system has helped to create more opportunities for co-development of technologies and business opportunities. The Center honors all suggestions, and encourages everyone to put forth their ideas and help develop the ideas of others.
