1998.01.26SK Telecom(President: Jung Uck Seo) held its second annual campaign to help the teenagers that take care of their family and collected 36 million won(roughly 24,000 dollars). The nation-wide campaign, entitled "Great Love Built With 10-won Coins - 011 Campagin for the Teenager Breadwinners", is SK Telecom’s annual effort to give practical support to the financially distressed teenagers that are responsible for their family’s living, while at the same time, to help bring the 10-won coins back into circulation. Among the people were a little kid who came in holding her mom’s hand and donated her piggy bank full of coins, an elementary school student who left carefully wrapped presents, an old lady who brought the coins she was left with after a day’s work, and a business man who sent 250,000 won but wanted to remain anonymous.
SK Telecom also sent 10,000 new year’s cards it collected through its street campaign to the teenagers in adverse circumstances through the Korea Welfare Foundation. Through another campaign called "The Link of Love", it helped 75,000 of those to find sponsors and had those sponsors convey heart-warming messages to them using the Speed 012 paging service. The "Great Love Built With 10-won Coins - 011 Campagin for the Teenager Breadwinners" campaign will continue through February 28.
