SK Telecom Selects Partners for Wireless Data Product Development

SK Telecom said today that it had selected partner companies for joint development and marketing of an assortment of wireless data services for business users and held a joint signing ceremony on June 20.

SK Telecom and 28 companies selected, including Mcommerce, Samji Electronics and KioskValley.Com, agreed to work together to develop various solutions using wireless data communications technology to meet the diversifying demands of corporate users.

As part of its ?WiDAS Program? designed to commercialize the technologies and ideas of select SI companies, SK Telecom had received applications for joint product development partnership in four product/service categories since April and selected six to seven companies among applicants in each area after evaluation process.

The agreement is expected to enable corporate users to enjoy a wide array of products and services delivered over SK Teleom?s wireless network in Mobile Office, Fleet Management, Wireless Telemetry, Mobile Transaction and mixed products.

Last May, SK Telecom inaugurated its comprehensive data communications service WiLL B for corporate users and is now providing corporate users with customized data communications services.

WiDAS Program: SK Telecom introduced comprehensive data communications service WiLL B for corporate users in order to meet their diversifying needs. This is a business partnership program designed to form partnerships and collaborative relationships with prominent companies both at home and abroad in the area of wireless data solution and special-purpose handset manufacturing.

Mobile Office: Wireless data communications service for sales people. Allows sales people to access corporate intranets and databases outside easily and quickly, eliminating the need for physically going back to their offices.

Fleet management: State-of-the-art logistics service that allows users to access cargo and fleet management information and communicate via wireless line to confirm vehicle position by linking the logistics companies with a wireless data communications network.

Wireless Telemetry: Wireless data communications service that enables remote control and monitoring. Wireless data communications technology is used to send the data or numbers coming from the machines being monitored to the central processing center at a predetermined interval, or for the central processing center to send out commands to each receiving end.

Mobile Transaction: This is a service that allows users to access financial transaction information or conduct business transactions while on the move over mobile phone or using a wireless credit confirmation device.
