Representatives met after the ITU Telecom Asia 2000 opening ceremony
Discussed concrete future steps for cooperation between the largest telecom operators in China and Korea
The largest telecom carriers of China and Korea shook hands firmly once again in Hong Kong, where the ITU Telecom Asia 2000 is being held.
SK Telecom said that SK Telecom President Jung Nam Cho met with Zhang Ligui President of China Mobile(www.chinamobile.com) at the Hong Kong Grand Hyatt Hotel on December 4 to discuss concrete steps for cooperation and continuous exchanges between the two companies.
During the meeting, SK Telecom and China Mobile agreed that in order to achieve active cooperation at the working level on wide-ranging issues based on the international roaming service agreement they had signed on October 25, the top management of the two companies should take the lead and work together closely.
SK Telecom and China Mobile agreed to open a regular
communication channel between the top management, form working groups by area that meet on a regular basis, introduce an employee exchange program, explore areas in which the two companies can effectively collaborate, and, finally, to continue to expand international roaming services.
SK Telecom President Jung Nam Cho said, ?The talk with China Mobile was the first fruit we reaped by participating in the ITU Telecom Asia 2000,? and ?the meeting will open up an opportunity for further cooperation in wider areas between the two companies.?
At the meeting, Zhang Ligui President of China Mobile said that China Mobile was closely watching the world technological trends and it would adopt a technology that allows world-wide roaming. He also expressed the company?s hope to work together with SK Telecom on a long-term basis.
China Mobile is China?s largest mobile operator with approximately 60 million mobile service subscribers. It also provides ISP, circuit resale, and international phone services in China.
