This marks the 6th Year of assistance to Vietnamese children.
A total of 1,250 children have been given a new life since 1996, and over 1,000 more are waiting for their chance.
The program, which is carried out jointly with Global Reach, is helping to promote friendly relations between Korea and Vietnam.
Since 1996, SK Telecom has been supporting a free
reconstructive surgery program for needy Vietnamese children with facial deformities. The program has been very enthusiastically received, with more than 1,000 children waiting for the opportunity to take part.
SK Telecom, in cooperation with Global Reach, sponsored operations for over 200 more of the children at Military Hospital 175 in Ho Chi Minh City between May 21 and 30. A total of 1,250 children have benefited from this program over the past six years.
More than 100 persons, including Korean Consul-General Yoo Young-bang, SK Telecom Managing Director Choi Hyo-jin, and people from Global Reach, will take part in a ceremony to mark the conclusion of the program at the Sofitel Hotel on May 30.
Managing Director Choi, chief of the Overseas Operations Division, said, ?We hope that this program will give the Vietnamese youngsters a brighter future. At the same time, the program is helping to promote friendly relations between Korea and Vietnam.?
Global Reach was formed in 1989 with the support of Injae Hospital to offer financial and medical assistance to poor people with facial defects.
