Introduced the synchronized IMT-2000 video cellular phone commercialized for the first time in the world.
Invited orphaned teenagers who support their siblings and provided an educational and joyous time for them.
Gave participants the chance to personally experience the benefits of the latest communications technologies.
At EXPO COMM KOREA 2002 that was held in Samseung Dong COEX, Seoul from 26th of February to first of March, SK Telecom (www.sktelecom.com) introduced a wide range of advanced services, such as synchronized IMT-2000 commercialized for the first time in the world and multi-Internet ’NATE’, a total service of combined wired and wireless Internet.
At this Exposition, the company gave people an opportunity for to experience the functions of synchronized IMT-2000, NATE, and m-Commerce, by giving them an opportunity to experience each service and its current technology through trial performances at various events.
In addition, the company invited 20 orphaned teenagers who support their siblings, and provided the opportunity to experience the latest information communication technology at this exposition. SK Telecom previously donated PCs, offered training programs, and hosted ?Summer Camp of Love and Hope? for these 20 orphaned teenagers.
In the IMT-2000 experiencing section, visitors were allowed to personally use video cellular phones that displayed naturally moving images at more than 10 frames per second and 2.4Mbps speed. They also were allowed to observe and compare the various aspects of changes in speeds brought about by the recent developments in cellular phone technologies.
In the section for experiencing multi-Internet NATE, people could try various wireless Internet services such as VOD, MOD, transportation information, news, games, stock trading information, etc. through a cellular handsets and PDAs.
Furthermore, there was a large cellular phone experiencing corner that featured the specific benefits of wired and wireless linked services, and gave people the opportunity to personally experience the changes it could make in their life.
The M-Finance section introduced the various services of MONETA and Nemo that let customers handle financial tasks, such as purchasing goods and transacting the money payment through the cellular phone.
While actively participating in this Exhibition, Jung Nam Cho, vice-chairman of SK Telecom, made an opening speech at the CEO Forum being held on the 27th and 28th of February. Hyun Oh Yoo, managing director of SK Telecom also gave a presentation on the subject of, ?SK Telecom’s Wireless Internet Strategy?
SK Telecom made this more than an exhibition that is only designed for watching. It was an opportunity to participate directly and personally in many enjoyable and educational events. The NATE Event for example featured a popular entertainer as the master of ceremonies with audience participation, and the Nemo Event that gave e-Money as gifts and prizes to the participants.
