SK Telecom and the Australian Tourist Commission Start a Joint Campaign on Tourism and Mobile Communication Marketing

This will increase the synergistic effects of SK Telecom’s marketing, and Australian tourism activities, by using the Australian tourist infrastructure together with SK Telecom?s mobile communication infrastructure.
In order to effectively use the Australian tourist infrastructure and mobile communication services, SK Telecom will strengthen the cooperative ties with the Australian Tourist Commission. To this end, at 10 am on May 28th, 2002 at the SK Telecom Head Office, Won Il Lim, head of SK Telecom?s Segment Marketing Division, and Jean Dunn, Australian vice-ambassador to Korea, conducted a ceremony celebrating the launch of the joint campaign on tourism and mobile communication marketing.
As a result, a variety of service methods that combine SK Telecom?s marketing activities with Australian tourism infrastructure will be offered to both the Korean and Australian people. This will contribute to promoting the relationship between Korea and Australia.
?This will allow about 16 million SK Telecom customers to enjoy a vast range of distinct services by using the Australian tourism infrastructure, and will allow the Australian people to experience the world?s best level of Korean information technology infrastructure? stated Won Il Lim, head of SK Telecom?s Segment Marketing Division. ?SK Telecom will put forth its best efforts to contribute to strengthening cooperative ties between Korea and Australia? he added.
In addition to the joint campaign with the Australian Tourist Commission, SK Telecom launched the CDMA automatic roaming service that allows both countries? cellular users to make calls by using their own original cellular number and handsets. This service will be started in September 2000 by SK Telecom forming a strategic alliance with Telstra of Australia.
