A preliminary screening match was conducted on the 3rd of July 2002 and 304 students (152 teams) from 94 special schools for disabled people throughout the country participated in the contest.
A variety of benefits, including overseas training programs and scholarships, will be awarded to winners.
The contest will be live-broadcasted through DNN, an Internet broadcasting system for disabled youth, and a documentary film will be produced.
The contest that has been held four times in four years, is now established as a crucial information communication activity for disabled youth.

Physically challenged youth, who can easily be out of reach of our information-based society, will have a chance to demonstrate their skills, and ability to function, in cyber space.
On the 3rd of July 2002, SK Telecom (www.sktelecom.com) announced in Millennium Hall of Central City, the launch of the 2002 Internet Search Contest for physically challenged students of special schools nationwide .
After a preliminary screening match among students of 134 special schools for disabled people throughout the country, 304 students (152 teams) from 94 special schools for disabled people were selected to participate in the contest. This contest is sponsored by the Ministry of Information and Communication.
The contest has been held four times since 1999 and is designed to help physically challenged youth overcome their disabilities and secure competitiveness as members of society. SK Telecom will support this contest that is positioned to be a crucial information communication activity for disabled youth.
The Information Search Contest is divided into 4 areas (hearing impairments, physical disabilities, visual disabilities and the mentally-handicapped). A variety of benefits, including overseas training programs and scholarships, will be awarded to teachers and winners of the grand prize (Prize of Minister of Information and Communication) and golden prizes. In addition, the latest PCs will be donated to special schools of winners.
This contest will be live-broadcasted through the Dream Spring program of DNN (www.dnn.or.kr), Korea’s first Internet broadcasting system for disabled youth. News and documentary films that contain participants’ comments, and the entire activities of the contest, will be produced.
After the ceremony for the awarding of prizes, a variety of programs will be offered to all participants. These programs include piano performances of Hee Ah Lee who is a very famous pianist with four fingers, a painting exhibition by Jung Park who paints with 9 toes, a comedy concert of Cult Triple musical performance called "The Voice of Spirit" from disabled choir singers, and going-to-the-movies, among others.
