Three winning projects were selected from the ’m-Finance Business Model Search Contest’ which included a ’Mobile Bidding Service’ among the 5,800 participants.
It was conducted as a competitive search contest for young people who are determined to lead in the worldwide mobile financial service field.
SK Telecom actively promotes new and creative ideas to make businesses grow and prosper.
On December 16, 2002 SK Telecom selected three winners among 5,800 ’m-Finance Mania Club’ members who participated in the ’m-Finance Business Model Search Contest’ held from November 1st to December 1st . The company also stated it would utilize three winning projects for creating and conducting new businesses next year.
On the 16th of December, at SK building in Seorin-dong, Jin Suk Cha, managing director of SK Telecom’s m-Finance Business Division, announced the three winners. The first prize was awarded to ’Mobile Bidding Service’ and the second prize went to ’New Concept in Pre-paid Cellular Phone Service’. The third prize was ’Mobile Insurance Service’.
The third prize winner, ’Mobile Insurance Service’ will be in business very soon, and the other two winning projects are going to become realities in business in the near future.
Jin Suk Cha explained the background of this contest by commenting, "Korea is a leader in the world wireless Internet market. This is particularly true in m-Finance Service where we have the most innovative technology and advanced service. To keep moving forward in a leading position, we continually need to generate creative new ideas."
"Not only the winning projects, but also other participating projects, contain excellent ideas for contributing to the advancement of Mobile Financing Services. We will continue to foster and invest in this competition as an authoritative and influential event that cultivates new technology and manpower for the wireless internet industry" he added.
On the 1st of November, SK Telecom held an ’m-Finance Business Model Search Contest’ to find and exploit new fresh ideas for new business plans that combine mobile communication and finance, and expand the potential of m-Finance services.
The ’m-Finance Business Model Search Contest’ is open to members of the ’m-Finance Mania Club’ which is a regular evaluation community for all kinds of SK Telecom ’ Financial Enabler services. This competition invites members to join in this contest for developing new business models. The winning prize ideas will then be strongly backed to proceed as actual businesses.
This contest was conducted by dividing the full membership into 9 groups, plus some individual associate members. Each group of full members will draw out a business plan to hand in for the contest by working in cooperation with the staff of SK Telecom m-Finance Division. The associate members will individually develop applications of their own new business ideas for the competition.
The m-Finance Mania Club was formed in May of this year. It is both an On/Off-line cyber community located in Freechal Site (www.freechal.com/sktmf). It fosters SK Telecom’s Financial Enabler business by collecting good new ideas, receiving trial exhibition services, conducting market research, and participating in promotions.
The m-Finance Mania Club consists of 5,800 associate members that are 011 and 017 subscribers who have applied as members, and 43 full members who were elevated from associate members by actively participating in the suggestion of business ideas about m-Finance products.
