This service being offered for the first time to 1,500 households at Dogok-dong Tower Palace.
SK Telecom actively provides the ’Home Network Service’ which allows users to remotely control their electric home appliances and gas valve using a cellular device located at a distance from the appliances. This service will first serve the Tower Palace located, Dogok-dong in Kangnam District.
Using this advanced ’Home Networking Technology’, 1,500 Tower Palace households can control digital equipment appliances from far distances with a wireless signal. By simply connecting to wireless Internet NATE, they can turn on and off the washer, air-conditioner to control the temperature, and safely turn off the gas in case there is a gas leak.
In addition, in the very near future this service will be expanded to many practical and valuable areas such as operating the door-locking and unlocking functions, vividly monitoring what is going on inside users’ house to verify its safety through a camera installed at home, and immediately reporting a burglary using a wireless signal generated by simply pressing a cellular phone button.
To better carry out this service, SK Telecom executed a contract with SEOUL COMMTECH, a Home Networking System Developer, to cooperatively develop and offer an excellent ’Home Networking Service’. The company also keeps seeking to initiate more cooperative efforts with other prominent home networking technology providers, in order to enhance the services.
