Standard Fee: Reduced by 1,000 won on basic monthly fee and one won on call fee, and gives three more minutes of free call time.
Optional Fees: Cut an average 7.3% off its regular fee. (Cutting even more on service use fees for youth, seniors, and disabled people)
SK Telecom announced on the 26th of December that from the first day of this coming year, SK Telecom will reduce the cellular service use fees an average of 7.3%.
The regular (standard) fee will be cut from the current basic monthly fee of 15,000 won to 14,000 won and the present call fee of 21/14/10 won per 10 seconds (no discount/discount/midnight hour) to 20/13/10 won. The free call time also increases three minutes from 7 to 10 minutes. SK Telecom’s plan for reducing service use fees allows a narrowing of the price gap of standard fee with KTF from 5.9% before cutting down fee to 4.0% based on 150 minutes of monthly calling time.
SK Telecom also announced an average cut of 7.3% in optional fee plan (same reduced rate as standard fee). It puts SK Telecom’s optional fee plan at the same level as the PCS providers’ fee.
In particular, the company widely expanded the discount range for people who are not able to afford the regular service fees. This includes youth (ting 500 Rate reduced 14.8%) and seniors (Silver Rate cut 21.0%). The discount on public welfare communication (disabled people, people of national merit, low income family, etc.) is at an even higher rate from 30% to 35%. In addition, the company announced the provision of a new specialized rate plan called View Plus Plan for the speech and hearing impaired.
This reduced rate plan cuts 537 billion won in service use fees on an annual basis for the total subscribers. This creates an average of 31,340 won in lowering service fees per subscriber per year.
