Donated 4.16 million Korean won that was raised through an online contribution site called ’Love Charity Kettle’
Will strive to promote a contribution culture based on telecommunications services in cooperation with social contribution organizations
SK Telecom donated 4.16 million won to the Salvation Army at on the 19th of December. This money was raised through donations by SK Telecom customers via wired and wireless Internet called NATE, as well as fundraising activities by the company’s employees.
In December of last year, SK Telecom and the Salvation Army founded an online contribution site named ’Love Charity Kettle. This created a new convenient donation channel accessible through cellular phones and PCs. In addition, SK Telecom placed a Salvation Army Charity Kettle on the first floor of the company’s headquarters. The company announced that a total of 4.16 million won was raised through these two charitable pathways.
Young Gil Seo, vice-president of SK Telecom, and Sung Hwan Kang, the commander of the Salvation Army, participated in the contribution delivery ceremony. The donated fund will be used for supporting low-income families, orphanages, and scholarships for less-fortunate youth.
Vice-president Seo expressed a warm-hearted thanks to all of the customers and employees who participated in the ’Love Charity Kettle’ activity. He also stated, "SK Telecom is continually putting forth its best effort to enlarge the use of wired and wireless Internet portal sites as channels for the promotion of good charitable causes and the sharing of good fortune, in addition to their use as channels of information and entertainment. "It is one of the meaningful turning points in our society when the contribution culture becomes second nature in our life" he added.
