1999.01.28Maximum 10% discount on holidays and at night
Sales projection of 1999 50 billion won
SK Telink said that it would further reduce its current rate of 360 won for a call between Korea and the U.S. to 330 won per minute. It is also introducing the "Holiday and Late Night Discounts" that will give users up to a 10% discount for calls to 233 areas if they place the calls late at night or on holidays.
The company says that it has decided to cut rates and give more discounts to users because of its success in reducing costs after the introduction of the new strategy of "Best Quality & Least Cost" that allowed the company to save a great deal of money in costs while maintaining high quality in service. It says that it will continue to make efforts to cut costs by improving cooperative relationship with overseas partners, developing new technology and negotiating with other operators, and have it reflected on its rate system.
Moreover, it will inaugurate its international call credit card service that will allow placing calls from anywhere on the planet on February 1. The pre-paid card service with which users can conveniently place calls from other countries to Korea will also become available from February 1 in Japan and from March 1 in the U.S.
SK Telink’s 00700 International call service became first available to Speed 011 users on July 1, 1998, and to 019 PCS users on January 1, 1999. As of December 31, 1998, the company’s sales were estimated to have reached 7.8 billion won and the total call hour neared 3 million minutes.
SK Telink’s 1999 sales projection is 50 billion won. On its agenda for the new year is developing customized services that will serve various customer needs; improving call quality continuously; providing flawless customer technical support; and creating new services using such cutting-edge technology as Voice over Internet Protocol. The company says its priority for the new year will continue to be delivering high-quality telecom services at affordable rates.
