Netsgo Celebrates 100,000 Users
1998.01.21Just in 100 Days After Launch
Netsgo, the computer online service of SK Telecom (President: Jung Uck Seo) is likely to reach 100,000 users soon, which would be a record in terms of the number of people who signed up in the shortest period of time. As of January 21, the number of users is 90,000 and since roughly 1,000 people are signing up for the service per day, the number is expected soon to pass 100,000.
Netsgo is an online communications and Internet access service SK Telecom began to provide commercially on October 28, 1997. It became an instant hit among the Netizens thanks to its various multimedia contents, convenient channel-based interface, the lowest usage rate in the country, easy-to-use value-added services such as Netscall and the quick transmission speed.
Netsgo celebrates its 100,000 users and the 100th day in service by holding various events and giving out free gifts. The 100,000th customer will receive a Pentium notebook computer. And it will also give presents to 100 users who will be chosen through a lottery among those who sent in the correct answer to the quiz "100,000 Users in Just 100 Days, ( ? ) Brings Korea’s Online Communications Service to New Heights!" Ten of those will be given Speed011 handsets and 90 of them Netsgo paraphernalia. It also plans to pick 100 people among those who subscribed to the service during the event period and give 10 of them Speed 011 handsets and 90 of them Netsgo paraphernalia. On the streets of the popular hang-out places for the youth such as Shinchon, Chamsil and Chong-no, the company will serve free rice cake to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
Users can participate in the quiz contest by logging on to Netsgo and enter "go event", or by looking up for the newspaper ad and sending in a postcard. Non-users can participate too, using a postcard. The results of the lottery will be announced on the Event Bulletin Board on February 10.
