With the opening of the "NATE Business Center," more than 900 business partners of SK Telecom can carry out tasks such as proposing new content, consulting on technology, signing purchase contracts, and making payments. The center also allows the accessing of varied statistical data regarding wireless Internet market trends.
The "NATE Business Center" has test rooms equipped with 150 terminals. This lets SK Telecom’s business partners test terminals free of charge. These "test labs" reduce the business partners’ burden of terminal purchase expenses and call fees, while testing and developing new wireless content.
An SK Telecom official revealed that the establishment of the NATE Business Center will save about KRW 500 million a year in expenses for business partners’ tests and content development.
Ji Young Park, president of Com2us, who participated in the opening ceremony as one SK Telecom’s business partners commented, "Previously we spent KRW 3 million a month in expenses on call fees and terminal purchases for wireless content tests, when we created content for one game. With the launching of "NATE Business Center", we will be able to cut the cost for content testing to a great extent".
Shin Bae Kim, president of SK Telecom, stated in his congratulatory speech, "The NATE Business Center will be utilized to create new business models by serving as a wireless Internet business-related information collection window". He then added the statement that, "SK Telecom will continue to play a key role in systematically supporting its business partners and increasing their competitiveness. This Center exemplifies the importance we place on our win-win partnerships".
The participants in the opening ceremony of the NATE Business Center were: SK Telecom’s directors including Shin Bae Kim, president of SK Telecom, and 30 CEOs of business partner firms, including the aforementioned president of Com2us.
Since the establishment of a Business Relations Promotion Team in July of 2003, SK Telecom has been supporting its small and medium-sized business partners in advancing into overseas markets, as well as promoting the business growth of promising partners. Furthermore, the company has been operating a broad spectrum of programs to increase its business partners’ competitiveness. This includes a variety of on and offline training programs.
From a financial standpoint, SK Telecom has supported its business partners for KRW 490 billion on a yearly basis by conducting "Preferential Payments to Small and Medium-Sized Companies", and making "Network Loans". In so doing, the company has been building future-oriented horizontal relationships with its business partners.
