SK Telecom’s Online Mobile Communications Museum Moves into the Finals of International Internet Awards

This site was selected in final voting of ’Webby Awards’, known as the "Oscars of the Internet"
MoMu was selected in the field of telecommunications for best use of animation or moving images, in the Webby Awards.
SK Telecom’s Internet site has moved into the finals of the Webby Awards. These are the best, and most prestigious Internet awards in the world.
SK Telecom announced on April 14th that Korea’s first online mobile communications museum called "MoMu" (www.momu.co.kr) has won the right to be in the final vote for a ’Webby Award’.
Established in June of 1996, the Webby Awards have been selecting the best Internet sites of each year by evaluating the functionality, use convenience, creativity, and design of websites. These awards are globally recognized as the New York Times called them, "Oscars of the Internet". Therefore, the winner of these awards is considered to be the best website in the world in each of the categories.
Webby Awards are sponsored by the "International Digital and Science Academy" which consists of 500 outstanding professional people in such fields as finance, education, fashion, arts, press, new media development, and many others. In 2005, more than four thousand web sites were put on exhibition, and were competing in a total of 65 different categories.
SK Telecom’s ’MoMu’ is Korea’s first online mobile communications museum that showcases the evolutionary development of handsets and main mobile communications technologies, together with a broad 20 year history of Korea’s mobile communications developments. As of the end of March, about 500 thousand viewers had visited the site since its establishment on July 30, 2004.
’MoMu’ was selected in the Webby Awards category of ’Telecommunications’ and ’Best Use of Animation or Moving Images’.
The final winners in each field will be announced on May 3, 2005 (local time in the U.S.).
