SK Telecom starts handset rental for roaming for China’s GSM
1999.06.25Available anywhere in China for Speed 011 Users
SK Telecom announced that "China GSM rental roaming service" covering the entire China would become available from June 25.
The new service allows Speed 011 users to use international roaming in China where the mobile standard is GSM, adding China to the list of countries in which the users enjoy roaming services, including the U.S., Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore and 70 European countries.
Speed 011 users who want to use the new service should apply for the service at the Roaming Help Center before the departure to China.
Users who applied for the service should pick up a rental handset at the Roaming Center Desk at the airport on the day of the departure and return it at the same place on arrival
Service users must pay 20,000 won subscription fee for each handset rental and 30 yuan basic fee per day. The call charges range between 0.56 and 2.24 yuan per minute and 18 yuan for international calls. The bill will be included in the regular monthly bill for Speed 011 service.
SK Telecom said the new roaming service was the result of the agreement for rental-roaming service between the company and China’s Beijing Telecom Administration, a subsidiary of Chinal Telecom, the largest mobile operator in China, and it would continue to increase the number of countries that allow international roaming (including rental-roaming service) for Speed 011 users.
