SK Telecom introduces TTL service for new generation

SK Telecom, the nation’s largest mobile service provider, announced today that it would launch a new brand of mobile service based on a new concept for the new generation dubbed as TTL on July 15.
On top of high call qaulity and wide service coverage of Speed 011 service, TTL offers;
- Customized and economical rate plans designed to fit the lifestyles of the young generation
- TTL handsets of slick designs and cool colors favored by the youth
- The TTL Zone exclusively made for TTL users for cultural activities and entertainment
- Special discounts for users at "family" restaurants such as the TGIF, Lotteria and Domino’s Pizza and 14 movie theaters nationwide
- An Internet web page for TTL users, offering useful information free of charge and lots of fun stuff including games, discussion groups and chatting
Especially the TTL rate plans boast;
- Compared to existing services, 65% lower rates (nine won for every ten seconds) if a customer uses TTL service within certain areas (designated by the customer)
- A 40% discount for users of a designated number
- A "Couple Rate Plan" offering free call time to couple users
- Plans designed exclusively for the new generation users
The company expects the launch of the new service to be the beginning of a series of products planned and marketed under the market segmentation scheme, a new marketing concept attempted for the first time in Korea.
SK Telecom also believes that the new service will provide an opportunity to shift the focus of the marketing activities from mutually destructive competitive practices depending mainly on subsidies to product development and high-quality customer service.
A company official says, "Anyone can subscribe to TTL service but because the service components are designed to appeal especially to the tastes of young customers, we expect mainly the young crowd would want to use the service," and "SK Telecom will continue to develop new product components and services with differentiating features for different customer segments."
