- A company official who works for the wireless data service division says, "Many mobile operators have competed with one another to offer new services that are very "out-of-touch" with what users really want and need. But n.TOP will deliver what users want and need over the mobile phone so that the contents they want to access are available anytime and anywhere."
- SK Telecom also launches the world’s first IS-95B service on August 16 coinciding with the launch of n.TOP. IS-95B is an intermediate level service soon to be replaced by more advanced IMT-2000 and has 64Kbps - 114Kbps transmission rates, which is eight times as fast as existing IS-95A.
- Because of this high-speed transmission capability, Speed 011 users will be able to hook up their mobile phones and notebook PCs to access online services comparable to wireline services such as Internet broadcasts.
To use service, users have to purchase handsets loaded with an MSM-3000 chip and if the handsets they currently have are either LG Michelle or Samsung SCH-7300 model, users can have them upgraded at a nearby SK Telecom office or the manufacturer’s customer service center.
