SK Telecom Becomes The First Korean Telco With ISO 9002 Certification

1998.01.23
SK Telecom(President: Jung Uck Seo) said today that it received ISO 9002 certification in customer satisfaction and after-sales service for the first time as a Korean telecom service provider. Being awarded certification by internationally renowned Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance is regarded as being recognized for the quality customer service of the receiving company and the efforts it has made to maintain its quality assurance activities in conformity with the international standards. The certification is expected to present new directions to the domestic telecom industry mired in overheated competition.
In 1995, SK Telecom announced its new corporate vision called "MOVE21" and adopted "Value creation for the customer" as the new slogan, making customer satisfaction one of the priority goals. And with the introduction of a new CI in March 1997, it has drawn up the ten priority tasks for customer satisfaction and made company-wide efforts to complete them. With a view to incorporating customer satisfaction into the corporate strategy to maintain competitive edge in the new market environment characterized by market opening and full-blown competition, SK Telecom has prepared itself for the certification beginning last year, standardizing the work process involving customer contact. Furthermore, this year, Sunkyong Group, the mother company of SK Telecom, changed its corporate name into SK Group and renewed its commitment to customer satisfaction by initiating the group-wide campaign called "Until the customers give their OK."
Other telecom service providers with ISO 9002 certification include AT&T and Nynex of the US, France Telecom of France, Deutche Telecom of Germany and British Telecom of the Great Britain. By joining these ranking telcos, SK Telecom has now become one of the major players of the global telecom industry providing services compatible with the international standards.
The certification is also expected to result in the enhanced consumer trust, reinforced competitiveness, increased productivity and boosted employee confidence.
Based on these merits, SK Telecom will continue to make its best efforts to deliver competitive telecom services in a globalized market environment to "get an OK from the customers."
The Lloyd official certification document will be awarded to SK Telecom at a ceremony to be held at SK Telecom headquarters on January 26.
