Providing GXG 3D games to Germany’s mobile contents distributor Arvato AG.
Working with top domestic game developer for Ongoing entry into overseas markets.
SK Telecom is entering Europe’s GSM 3D game market together with a domestic game developer.
On August 3rd, SK Telecom announced that it had established an agreement to supply its 3D games to Arvato AG, a German mobile contents distributor.
With this agreement, among the winners of the 3D Contents Competition held by the Company last year, SK Telecom will be providing five games to Arvato AG consisting of action, sports and puzzles judged to be most in line with overseas trends: Banana War (Nazca), Rope (Best Today), Nemo (Gamevil), four Extreme Bobsleigh (Netdol) 3D games, and Action Zukuman (Zamburger), a GXG 3D game.
Arvato AG is a Germany-based mobile contents distributor with 70 distribution channels consisting of major European mobile telecom operators and portals, and plans first to service the 3D games supplied by SK Telecom to the U.K., Germany and Austria via global mobile telecom operators such as T-Mobile, O2, and Vodafone.
SK Telecom is on the search for top game developers through game contests that it has been holding since last year, and qualified game developers that were winners of last month’s contest will be provided with opportunities to advance overseas.
Also, by acquiring a porting agent that applies domestic games to overseas terminal platforms, which is essential for overseas entry, and by sharing information on game development standards and terminal standards for overseas exports, thereby establishing an official process for exporting games, SK Telecom plans to continue providing support for development and overseas export of games by domestic game developers.
Managing Director Shin Won-Soo, head of SK Telecom’s Contents Business Division, remarked, "Through ongoing discovery of quality games and development of top developers, we plan to step up the level of quality of domestic games and pioneer overseas mobile game markets."
