SK Telecom CEO Discusses Development of Mobile Telecommunications Industry with GSMA Director General

SK Telecom (NYSE:SKM) CEO and President Ha Sung-Min met with GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association) Director General Anne Bouverot to discuss the development of the mobile communications industry at SK Telecom Headquarters.

CEO Ha and Director General Bouverot met to discuss the future development direction and current issues regarding the mobile telecommunications services including NFC (Near Field Communication) based mobile payment services and next-generation integrated communication services called RCS (Rich Communication Suite).

In particular, they discussed in-depth about the ICT landscape and expected role of telecommunications companies in the LTE-Advanced era, as well as the network neutrality issue and agreed to devise cooperative measures.

SK Telecom introduced to the Director General its NFC payment services, wireless network overload prevention technology named Smart Push, major LTE technologies such as VoLTE, Multi-Carrier and Carrier Aggregation, RCS services, smart learning services and enterprise solutions like Geovision.

CEO Ha emphasized the superiority of SK Telecom’s self-developed wireless network overload prevention technology Smart Push and requested for Director General Bouverot’s support for the global standardization of the technology.

Furthermore, Director General Bouverot visited SK Telecom’s ICT experience center T.um to experience cutting-edge ICT technology, followed by a visit to Q Store, a store that utilizes NFC technology and QR code, to experience the company’s NFC services.

After experiencing SK Telecom’s cutting-edge ICT, Director General Bouverot expressed her appreciation for the company’s efforts to share its experience with other GSMA members and requested continuous support from SK Telecom in GSMA’s diverse initiatives including NFC Fast Track Project.
