SK Telecom decided to make its Information Business Division responsible for SK Telecom?s wireless Internet, contents and community services independent and made the separation official on August 18. The name of the new company is Netsgo, Inc.
SK Telecom said, ?The decision was made in order to strengthen our competitiveness in the Internet service industry through reinforcing our capability to effectively respond to the constant changes in the business environment by enhancing organizational flexibility while securing talents and bringing diversity in our business alliances.
Netsgo Inc. (capital: 52 billion won) is owned 100% by SK Telecom and will focus on boosting its strengths in wireline contents and community service while developing contents and applications suitable to the mobile communications environment.
SK Telecom expects that the spin-off will help it become stronger in the wireline Internet services and develop competitive contents and application products in mobile Internet service, providing synergy effects from bringing the wireline and mobile services together
