SK Telecom (NYSE:SKM) today announced that its technology museum ‘T.um’ won two prestigious awards at iF Design Award 2019* held in Munich, Germany on March 15.
*First awarded in 1953, iF Design Award is a world-renowned design prize organized annually by Germany’s oldest independent design organization, Hannover-based iF International Forum Design GmbH.
T.um received the iF Gold Award in the Trade Fairs & Exhibitions category of the Interior Architecture discipline and iF Design Award in the Design Award in the Installations category.
Laid out over the first two floors of SK Telecom’s Seoul headquarters, T.um demonstrates how technology will transform and innovate our society, touching on social issues like climate changes and disaster control. The space first opened in 2008 to introduce the latest technology trends, and was recently remodeled with the main purpose of exploring new possibilities of technology in a more distant future. The museum, a collaboration by a team of designers, neurologists, architects and futurologists, has been carefully designed to offer and create an interactive ICT experience for visitors, using AR, VR, hologram and 5G technologies.
The judges of the iF Design Award stated, “T.um is a technology experience museum that mixes education and entertainment in a consistent design language. It focuses on four major technologies and blends them with the interior design of the exhibition space. Elegance personified!”
“SK Telecom is honored to receive this award as it recognizes our ceaseless efforts to exhibit cutting-edge and futuristic ICT in the most innovative and user-friendly space,” said Yoon Yong-Chul, Executive Vice President and Head of Communication Center of SK Telecom.
